Presentation by Freda Huson. About Freda: Freda was chosen to be the spokesperson for the Unis’ot’en Clan in 2008. The Unis’tot’en recent history includes taking action to protect their lands from Lions Gate and building a cabin and resistance camp against proposed pipelines from Tar Sands Gigaproject and LNG from the Horn River Basin Fracturing Projects in the Peace River Region. The proposed pipelines from Enbridge, and Pacific Trails Pipeline (Chevron), seek to cross the river at the exact points of our Pithouse, and Permaculture Garden that was built on the Unist´ot´en Territory of Talbits Kwah. Much of Freda’s grounding comes from being raised following the seasonal hunting and fishing on her people’s lands and waterways. Some of her responsibilities continue to include planning and coordinating Clan incursions out to their traditional territories. Freda’s guiding philosophy is based on teachings taught to her and her family from her great grandmother, the late Christine Holland.
